The 13th Sign: Ophiucus

Do you know that there are 13 signs in the Zodiac? Do you know that your sun sign is shifting? As we look around we can see, feel and sense that major changes are occurring both within ourselves and in the world around us. Some of us are excited about these changes, while others are fearing change. The introduction of our new zodiac sign has brought on many different reactions from various people.  The question, “Who am I? ” is permeating through the minds of millions who are seeking answers. Many of us are confused as to what our real zodiac sign actually is. We spend our whole lives thinking we are an Aries, Sagittarius or Pisces and now we’re told we are something completely different. It is hard to know what to believe these days, especially when it comes from the media, but is phenomenon real or just a fad?

Ophiucus: The Serpent Holder

The constellation, Ophiuchus, has been known since ancient times, and is better known as Serpentarius, the Serpent Holder. Ophiucus is known as the Healer, the Doctor, and the Rejuvenator and is now being acknowledged as our 13th zodiac sign. The astronomer who reintroduced this concept to the world is named  Parke Kunkle. He states that due to changes in the Earth’s alignment the zodiac signs have have shifted. He explains how as the Earth and Sun gradually move, the signs change over time. Kunkle says that the 12 signs were designated to different periods of the year almost 3,000 years ago, when astrology began, and since then the Earth’s position in relation to the sun has changed. From the stars we see that our position i nthe Zodiac has changed to include a 13th sign. What does this change mean? The adjustments that most of us are going through can be explained by examining the plants. The activation of Ophiucus by Pluto has dislodges almost all of our sun signs and rearranged the zodiac.

What Does This Really Mean?

What this means is  that while we still remain who we are, we will be given additional strengths and challenges of another sun sign in addition to the ones given to us at birth. A chosen few will have Ophiucus as their new sun sign. Others may have Ophiucus as their new rising sign of have Ophiucus as their new moon sign. You may have some of your perosnal planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars) or your social planets (Jupiter, Saturn) or your generational planets (Uranus, Neptune) in Ophiucus. All of us will have planets transiting Ophiucus, just as we have planets transiting different aspects to each other (square, conjunct, trine and opposition). Astronomers know the importance of Ophiucus and that it is the 13th sign in the zodiac. The physical evidence is there, up in the sky. Including Ophiucus in the zodiac is important, and many astronomers know and understand the mythology of the stars and understand the significance they play. Astronomers know that the stars and the moon do reflect what is happening on earth. It is essential that we rebuild the bridge between astrologers and astronomers, and Ophiucus would be a great place to start.
